Who Can Get a TAL Card?

TAL cardIf your home library is a participating library in The Alberta Library (TAL), and you are a current member of that library, you are eligible for a TAL Card. Your TAL card must be issued by your home library. If you are an SCL patron, you can sign up for a TAL card at the Check-Out Desk.

The TAL Card allows you to visit other libraries all over Alberta and borrow up to 5 books from their collections.

Fees & Fines

There is no fee for a TAL card or to borrow SCL items with a TAL card. However, regular fines for late returns are still charged.

Please see our Borrowing Conditions brochure (pdf) for information about how fines are charged. All fines are charged in Canadian currency.
Please note that once you have $15 or more in unpaid fines, you will not be able to borrow books or renew items.

If you lose your card, please let us know as soon as possible. You are responsible for any items borrowed on your card until you report it missing.

Fines can be paid in person (Cash, Debit or Credit Card), via telephone or online (Credit Card), or at our self checkout machines (Debit or Credit Card)
